When You Feel Other People’s Energy – How to Protect Yourself
To navigate Neptune’s energy without becoming drained, it is important to practice conscious presence. Conscious presence is activated when you observe. It is about seeing and hearing what is happening in the room while at the same time registering what is happening in your body. When you feel an imbalance in your body:
direct your attention toward your breathing
place a hand on your chest or stomach
say to yourself: “I am right here”
stay in the body until you feel calm again
This way you tell your body that you are fully capable of being in the situation while also taking care of yourself. You learn that it is not dangerous, but you also discover your own reaction patterns. It is right here that you can set a boundary, say what is on your heart, listen, or simply act in a more appropriate way than you usually do.
The exercise works through repetition. The more often you use it, the more natural it becomes for you. Over time, you will feel a grounding and calmness within yourself.
Use Neptune’s power to strengthen your own balance
In this way, you do not become trapped in other people’s energy, but instead use Neptune’s power to strengthen your own balance. In reality, there is very little you need to do. It is a simple and direct way of working with yourself. And it is completely free!
Neptune’s energy is about:
remaining calm in challenging situations
slowing the pace down (only do what is most necessary in everyday life)
staying within yourself (observe your own behavior)
being loving
But also:
sensitivity
overstimulation
boundaries
energy from other people
becoming drained
Where does your Neptune energy live?
Neptune’s energy reveals itself without you thinking about it. In your birth chart, you can see which house your Neptune lives in. This is where you can consciously work with your Neptune energy.
Neptune in the 1st House
You are trained to feel the world around you, but you may have difficulty feeling yourself first. Your identity can merge with other people’s expectations, and it can be challenging to stand firmly in who you truly are.
Neptune in the 2nd House
You are trained to give value to others, but you may have difficulty feeling your own resources and values first. This can create a feeling of lack or insecurity around finances and self-worth.
Neptune in the 3rd House
You are trained to absorb information and moods from your immediate environment, but you may have difficulty hearing your own voice. It can be challenging to distinguish between your own thoughts and those of others, and you may feel confused in communication.
Neptune in the 4th House
You are trained to feel the moods in the home and among family, but you may have difficulty feeling your own needs for safety first. This can create a feeling of disorder or unrest, and you may tend to prioritize other people’s well-being over your own.
Neptune in the 5th House
You are trained to feel love and creativity deeply, but you may have difficulty prioritizing yourself first. This can lead to idealization of love or projects, and you may lose yourself in the pursuit of perfection or inspiration.
Neptune in the 6th House
You are trained to help and take responsibility for work and health, but you may have difficulty taking care of yourself first. You may overwork yourself or absorb other people’s problems without setting clear boundaries.
Neptune in the 7th House
You are trained to feel others in partnerships, but you may have difficulty feeling your own needs first. This can create a tendency toward idealization or dependency in relationships, where you lose yourself in the desire to help or connect.
Neptune in the 8th House
You are trained to feel deep emotions and transformation, but you may have difficulty distinguishing between your own and others’ experiences of loss, control, or intensity. You may feel consumed if you do not prioritize your own boundaries.
Neptune in the 9th House
You are naturally drawn toward what expands your horizon – new ideas, beliefs, wisdom, and travel. But it can be difficult to find your own truth in the middle of everything you encounter. You may easily become inspired by other people’s beliefs or ideals, so much that you lose the sense of what actually feels true for you.
Neptune in the 10th House
You are trained to feel what is expected in career and public role, but you may have difficulty following your own path. You may idealize status or achievement without prioritizing what truly gives meaning to you.
Neptune in the 11th House
You are trained to feel collective energies and social groups, but you may have difficulty feeling your own wishes first. You may lose yourself in the group’s ideals or dreams without taking yourself seriously.
Neptune in the 12th House
You are trained to sense everything – moods, emotions, dreams, collective vibrations, even other people’s pain. But you are not trained to feel yourself first. This means that you can drift out of your own identity because you feel everything and everyone. You carry a natural urge to heal and save, and you may have difficulty distinguishing between when you are helping – and when you are surrendering too much.
